Kaduna State Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Abubakar G. Haruna was yesterday sworn in as the new peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman.
This followed the resignation of the former State chairman Nuhu Bajoga who has been appointed as the deputy governor, following the death of the late governor Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa.
The state PDP legal adviser Barrister Emmanuel Kantiok administred the oath on him presence of the state governor, Mukhtar Ramallan Yero and other party personalities and faithful at the party’s Secretariat.
Earlier, the publicity Secretary of the party Barrister Ibrahim Mansur disclosed that his appointment was the aftermath of the State party caucus committee meeting which held recently, followed by the subsequent ratification by the State Executive Council (SEC).
Speaking earlier, Governor Yero charged the new chairman to seriously commence the process of reconciling aggrieved party members, particularly those that for one reason or the other left the party, and employ necessary measures that will bring them back to the party.
He warned party members against acts capable of destroying the party’s image. Barrister Mansur reiterated that the substantive appointment of Chief Haruna was a unanimous decision of the State PDP caucus in line with the party’s constitution of the state, which says in the event of the resignation of a state party Chairman, a new person shall be appointed from the same Senatorial zone.
