John Terry says Jose Mourinho is still the Special One at Chelsea.
The Real Madrid manager has been heavily linked with a return to Stamford Bridge this summer after saying he wants to be at a club where he is loved.
Unpopular interim Blues boss Rafa Benitez has already revealed he will move on at the end of the season.
And while Terry is reluctant to speculate on who will replace him, he knows Chelsea fans love Mourinho.
JT, 32, said: “It is important for both of us to show respect to Real Madrid because he has a contract there.
“For me, personally, it is difficult to go into this subject.
“But the fans have shown clearly that he is a man they love, above all for what he won, and for pushing the club in a direction it had never gone in before.
“He is still the Special One.”
Mourinho was always close to his players during his time at Chelsea and Terry admits he is still in touch with the Portuguese tactician.
Terry added: “We keep in touch by text, wishing each other luck.
“He looks out for our results and keeps interested in all that happens at the club.
“He also keeps in touch with Frank Lampard and other players.
“When I heard him say him say he wants to be where he is loved I sent him a message asking which team he was talking about.
“His answer was ‘them all’. And you must believe the things he says.
“With his quality as a manager he could really go to whatever club he wants.
“Mourinho and the fans have a great relationship because with him we won the Premier League and some other trophies.”
