Senator Magnus Abe has called on the 27 members of Rivers State House of Assembly, who were suspended by the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to ignore the action of the party.
Urging the state lawmakers to go about their constitutional responsibility of making laws for the state, Senator Abe described the action of PDP in the state as ridiculous.
He said: “I think it is ridiculous and it is clear that the so-called PDP executive that was foisted on the state is there only to destroy the party, because anybody who is a legislator will tell you that nobody, by the laws of this country, is supposed to intimidate the legislature in the execution of their constitutional duties.”
Continuing, he said what the Felix Obuah-led PDP did amounted to to undermining the constitution of the country.
“This is a clear effort by somebody to undermine the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has never happened anywhere,” he added.
