MD Yusuf, Okiro, Smith, Others Blame HOS For Pension Fraud 4 years ago 3

Former Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) have slammed the office of the Head of Service (HoS)for what they termed the “monumental theft” which rocked the Police pension fund recently.

The former IGPs including Gambo Jimetta, Sunday Adewusi, Sunday Ehindero, MD Yussuf, Aliyu Attah, Mike Okiro, Musilu Smith, Ibrahim Coomassie and Tafa Balogun stated this during a solidarity visit to the acting IG.

The ex-police chiefs held a closed door meeting, yesterday, with the acting IGP Mr. Mohammed Abubakar for three hours to discuss the insecurity facing the country.

Jimetta, who spoke on behalf of the ex-IGPs on the police pension fraud, said he had to clarify the issue so that the impression was not created that the pension fraud happened during their tenures. He accused the Head of Service of complicity in the fraud.

“I want to reply the man raising the pension issues, lest an impression be created that during our time we had the foggiest idea about the theft going on with the pension fund. The issue has always been who is in charge of police fund; is it the police command or the police affairs department? In this case, it is very clear that the police have never been in control of their funds.

“In the past, the pension at that time was centrally being organised and we received our pension as at when due. It is in the past 13, 14 years that this phenomenon happened. It is a monumental theft and the media should partner with us to unravel who are behind this. Home Page
