Birth Tourism Hotel Discovered in California

A birth tourism hotel was discovered in a California suburb, offering foreign tourists to the U.S. to have so called anchor babies, according to press reports.

Dozens of residents of a Southern California suburb protested on Saturday against a hill house they say serves as a maternity center for Chinese mothers paying thousands of dollars to give birth to the so-called anchor babies. Chino Hills Mayor told a local newspaper that code enforcement investigators learned that the rooms of the house is rented out to Chinese pregnant women until they give birth.

The protesters said they did not want to see a business operating in a residential area. They carried signs at a busy intersection that read "No Birth Tourism” and “Not here! Not in U.S.A.!" "Chino Hills is a pleasant family oriented city.

We do not want a maternal hotel that is a business in a residential area," Rossana Mitchell said. Kelly Good said that the women come to the United States under false pretenses.

“I mean they come legally on tourist visas, but their intention is to give birth in the United States in order for their children to obtain citizenship automatically,” Good told news reporters.
