Ireland Supports Dialogue With Boko Haram

The  Ireland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Fay has said that for the country to come out of the current insecurity  occasioned by the activities of the Islamist militant Boko Haram, there is need for genuine dialogue between the sect and the Federal Government.

Fay, however, noted that the prelude to this was for the sect to cease fire and the government halt the use of military might against members of the sect.

The envoy stated this just as the umbrella body of the North, Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF) differed on the position of the convocation of the Sovereign National Conference as a way of ending the problem confronting the country being pushed by some Nigerians.

National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Mr. Anthony Sani told the Ireland Ambassador to Nigeria on a courtesy call on the ACF in Kaduna on Wednesday that convoking a Sovereign National Conference would amount to passing a vote of no confidence on the nation’s democracy.
