The Chairman of the Ekiti State Implimentation Committee of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, Chief Femi Akinyemi, has said that the scheme will recruit 15, 000 persons who would be paid N10,000.00 monthly.
Akinyemi said this at a press conference on in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
He explained that the first batch of beneficiaries to be engaged in community service would start collecting their salaries from the end of February.
According to him, 2,000 would also be recruited in February while another fresh 10,000 would be recruited in the third phase of the scheme.
He stressed that crime would be drastically reduced by the time the scheme had absorbed 15,000 jobless youths from the state.
Akinyemi denied the claim of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties that the programme was meant only for members of the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the scheme was for the benefit of everybody.
