Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, has warned contractors handling government road projects to stick to timelines for delivery or risk termination of such contracts.
According to a statement on Sunday, the governor gave the warning in Sagamu on Saturday while inspecting the level of work done on the 9.5-kilometre highway from Isale Oko to Kara, being constructed by his administration.
Amosun expressed displeasure at the level of progress made so far. He, therefore, asked the firm handling the construction to double its efforts.
He said the concrete floors to hold the pillars of the overhead bridge should have been ready by now, warning that he would brook no unnecessary delay in the execution of the project.
“I know it will take, at least, 18 months to complete the entire project but I want to see steady and significant progress on this road, especially the flyover bridge,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the first flyover bridge in Sagamu would be ready for unveiling during the second anniversary of the administration.
Amosun thanked residents who trooped out to welcome him and promised that his government would continue to implement policies that would put smiles on their faces.
