Chairman, Shift Concept Committee, Mr. Bisi Akande, has said the problem facing Nigeria is that of mediocrity rather than corruption.
He said this at a briefing on the Lagos Shift initiative on Friday.
According to Akande, mediocrity is the country’s greatest problem because it steals the time of not just the citizens but also the country as a whole, leading to stagnation.
He said, “Mediocrity actually is our problem in Nigeria much more than corruption. It takes away the most important resource; time.
“While corruption focuses on the physical resources, mediocrity brings about lack of excellence. It is better to steal the money than the time.”
Akande said the Shift initiative would empower youths in a different way, by engaging them in platforms that would enable them to fully express their talents.
