Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Masari has advised Muslims to pray for the nation’s leaders saying Nigeria is experiencing a dearth of good leaders because the current crop of leaders do not care about Nigerians.
Alhaji Masari who gave the advice in Abuja on Thursday at the annual lecture of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria said there are so many rulers in the country who do not care about the welfare of the people. He urged political office holders to imbibe the vision of the nation’s founding fathers who worked for the collective interest of Nigerians at all times.
The conference hall at the National Mosque in Abuja was filled to capacity as Muslims in Abuja converged to examine the subject of an exemplary leader in line with the teachings of Prophet Mohammed. The guest speaker, Alhaji Masari told the gathering that the nation is in dire need of good leaders. The chairman of the occasion and Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa and the chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria decried the misconception and stereotypes about Islam as a religion.
In a lecture titled the exemplary leader, the guest lecturer, Alhaji Hussein Musa advised all Muslims to be upright and be part of resolving every conflict around them. The lecture which is the 7th in the series organised by the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria attracted many Muslims within and outside the Federal Capital Territory.
