Kidnappers Seize 90-Year-Old Widow In Delta

A 90-year-old widow, Mrs Egbeshire Otovwievwie,  said to be the mother  of the national vice chairman of National Union of Petroleum , Energy and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, was seized from her residence in Olomu Kingdom Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, weekend, by five suspected kidnappers.

The kidnappers, who stormed her house in the early hours of the day in a Toyota Camry car caught the community youths unawares.

It was not known at press time if her son, who is also a staff of Nigeria  Gas Company had been contacted for ransom, but the police were reportedly on  the trail of the suspects.

HRM, Ovie R. L. Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro I, the Ohworode of Olomu kingdom condemned the abduction in a telephone chat with Saturday Vanguard and appealed to  her captors to release her unconditionally.

Also, Mr. Simon Ebrobota, President General of Oviri- Olomu,  condemned the  act and beseeched the kidnappers to free the old woman.

According to our Source, “ Mrs. Egbeshire was kidnapped early this morning  (Friday) at about 12.30am at her house at Esie  Street in Oviri- Olomu. The  kidnappers came in a Toyota Camry saloon car and made straight to the old woman’s house.

“All attempts by the community youths to block the vehicle while leaving was abortive as a result of the indiscriminate shooting by the kidnappers to scare the community youths.”
