Gunmen Ransack Adamawa Village 4 years ago 1

YOLA – Unidentified gunmen Thursday night attacked and ransacked Gulak town, headquarters of Madagali local area of Adamawa State.

President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special adviser on political matters, Alhaji Ali Gulak hails from the town where he was recently hosted to a lavishing reception over his appointment.

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bala Ngilari and the Adamawa House Speaker, Hon. Umaru Fintiri also hails from the town.

Reports from Madagali, a border local government between Adamawa and Borno States indicated  that the gunmen numbering about twelve had earlier attacked the Divisional Police Station in the town and some houses of notable personalities in the area.

According to the report, the attackers later ransacked two old generation banks in the area, where huge cash and other valuables were carted away.

The casualty figure occasioned by the attack according to report was high as the entire town was thrown into sporadic shootings and heavy explosions that lasted close to an hour.

The entire town was completely enveloped by stampede, even as casualty figure occasioned by the stampede was as high as those hit by stray bullets.

No fewer than four police officers in the station including three inspectors and a corporal were confirmed killed as the attackers completely subdued the station and emptied the armoury.

Elsewhere in Adamawa State, two explosives planted at a police station and filling station in Mubi, the commercial nerve centre of the state were quickly detected and detonated by the Bomb squad stationed in the area.

A 6pm to 6am curfew has been imposed on the town and its environs which has witnessed services of attacks and killings more than any other town in Adamawa State in the last two years.

Adamawa state police command has confirmed the Gulak attack and Mubi incident.
Spokesman of the command, Mr. Numuel Yoila (ASP) told Vnaguard that a comprehensive report of the incident to ascertain the casualty figure is being compiled. Home Page
