A four-year-old boy crashed his parents’ uninsured Toyota Camry into a McDonald’s restaurant in northwest Toronto on Sunday, while his mother was in the back seat and his father was inside picking up food, police say.
Toronto police Sergeant Doodnath Churkoo said that the car was left running and the boy was left in the driver’s seat while his father went into the restaurant. The boy reportedly put the vehicle in drive, causing the Camry to ram into the McDonald’s located in near Jane Street and Finch Avenue.
The boy’s mother was in the back seat when the incident occurred, according to CBC News. It was not reported whether anyone inside or outside of the vehicle was injured. When police officers arrived at the scene, the mother told them that she was behind the wheel when the car hit the fast-food chain.
Witnesses told police that the child was in the driver's seat when the accident happened, Churkoo said. Both parents have reportedly been charged with obstructing an officer.
