The state chairman of the PDP, Dr Mahmud Abdulrahman, who was on a courtesy visit to the state executive members of the party in Kwara state, explained that the governor was focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the 'Power State.'

The party leader also appealed to journalists in the country to avoid reports that could lead to chaos and crisis but rather promote those that would enhance economic development of the country.

The party, he noted, has rules and regulations guiding its activities, adding that the right aspirants and candidates for the party will emerge at the right time.

On Wednesday, the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, also debunked rumours that he had commenced his presidential campaign towards the 2015 elections. He made this known when receiving the Ethiopian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Ali Abdul Sulaiman, and the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Professor Musibau Akanbi, who paid him courtesy visits in Minna.

Aliyu added that he had not declared his ambition to contest the election.According to the governor: "It is not true that I flagged off any presidential campaign in Plateau State."

Aliyu stated that there was a directive from the PDP at the national level that all campaigns for the 2015 elections should be put on hold till next year, adding that as a loyal party man and law abiding citizen, he will abide by the decision of the party.

According to Aliyu, it was the 'Thank-You' visit by the National Youth Leader of the party, Alhaji Garba Umaru, who is from the state, who led a delegation to Plateau State to thank the PDP members in that state for voting for him (Umaru) during the national convention of the party that was misconstrued as a presidential campaign flag off by him.

"My clarification of the situation now is not an indication that I am afraid to contest the presidential election when the time comes. If it is God’s will that I would come out, believe me I am not afraid, I will come out because what will be will be but I am not out yet," the Governor said.

The Niger State Governor pleaded with the media to always get their information correct before publication, saying some reports often misinform the public and overheats the polity.
