Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Lagos State, on Tuesday, donated exercise books to no fewer than 13,000 pupils in primary schools in the area.
Each pupil in the 31 primary schools in the area got six exercise books, while nine schools, selected from the wards in the area, will have their pupils kitted with uniforms and school bags.
Chairman of the council, Mr. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh, said the event demonstrated the council’s effort to ameliorate the sufferings of the parents and pupils.
The chairman, who also inaugurated two buildings at Aregbe Primary School and Afariogun Primary School, promised to make schools in the LG more conducive.
Muse-Ariyo said, “There is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, than creating an effective teaching and learning environment. It is in realisation of this fact that we have embarked on construction of four blocks of classrooms at Aregbe and Afariogun primary schools.
Official of Lagos State Universal Basic Education, Mr. A.K. Abatan, urged other local governments to emulate the gesture of Muse-Ariyoh, saying it would go a long way in developing education in the state.
