Journsalists’ killers Exposed 4 years ago 1

Two persons, John Michael, 36, and Salisu Danjuma, 52, were, yesterday, arraigned before an Afuze Magistrate’s Court, Edo State on a four count charge of conspiracy and murder of George Okosun and Olatunji Jacob, journalists with the Independent Television, ITV and Fidelis Okhani of AIT. The offences are punishable under section 324 of the criminal code Cap 48 Vol.11 Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976 as applicable in Edo State.

According to the prosecution, the suspects were alleged to have on April 28, 2012 murdered one Olatunji Jacob on Auchi-Warrake Road in the Afuze Magisterial District, thereby committed an offence punishable under section 319 (1) of the law. The duo was also accused of conspiring and killing one George Okosun and Fidelis Okhani, thereby committed offence punishable by the same section of the law.

When the case came up, yesterday, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were ordered by the trial magistrate, Mr William Aziegbemi to be reminded in prison custody till August 6, 2012. Meanwhile, the case file has been referred to the Registrar of Edo State High Court and Director of Public Prosecution at the State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

It will  be recalled that the late journalists were on the convoy of the state governor, Mr  Adams Oshiomhole, when the accident occurred, claiming their lives. Home Page
