A 64-year-old man, Mr. Kwagher Ataver, who was earlier declared missing was yesterday discovered dead in a river in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Leadership learnt that Mr. Ataver had, two weeks ago, left his house located in a village called Abiem, Gwer West LGA, without telling his family members where he was going.
Consequently, the family members of the deceased later announced the sudden disappearance of the elderly man in the local churches and the media.
It was however gathered that the late Kwagher was allegedly insane and that he was taken to a psychiatric hospital (name withheld) before he escaped to an unknown place.
A hunter, Mr. Msughve Ayua, who found the body of the missing old man lying dead in a river called Yagbede, in Abiem community of Gwer West LGA, said he was hunting around the river when he stumbled on the man’s corpse.
According to Ayua, he had quickly rushed to the community to inform the elders of the area and further stated that the corpse had since been removed from the river. According to him, investigation into circumstances surrounding the mysterious death was being carried out by the leaders of the village.
