Former Green Eagles defender Waidi Akanni has urged West Brom striker Osaze Odemwingie to curb his incessant and unguarded outbursts on Twitter for the sake of his professional career.
Akanni told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos that the player should conduct himself with dignity and set a good example for budding talents.
The player recently clashed with his club over an abortive transfer move to Queens Park Rangers, in January.
The development got him suspended and also fined by West Brom.
In spite of the negative fallout from the January transfer saga, the player had recently accused the club on Twitter for frustrating him.
The development did not go down well with the club’s management and it earned him another fine.
Akanni said, “Osaze is a good player, no doubt, but he needs to exercise caution at all times.
“I understand that being young and successful could be a burden to manage, but he needs to show some restraint, particularly when he feels he has been treated unjustly.
“Osaze is a star that so many young talents look up to, so he needs to set good examples for the young ones. His outbursts on Twitter will not change the situation, but can only worsen things for him.”
