Petroleum product kerosene (DPK) was found in a public drinking water well in Kuje town on Tuesday January 8, 2013, 10pm Nigeria time.
Eyewitnesses said the residents were busy scooping the products overnight. Early today, Nigerian paramilitary and security officials surrounded the scene of the leakage to stop residents from scooping the products.
Kuje is one of six local area council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Nigeria, about 42km from the main Abuja city.
Several Nigerian have already died from explosions at the scenes of leaking pipes and tankers carrying petroleum products.
