Wada Returns To Abuja Hospital For Check Up

Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, who was involved a ghastly motor accident last month, yesterday spoke to journalists for the first time since the incident.

Wada Returns To Abuja Hospital For Check Up

He spoke as he came back to the private hospital in Garki, Abuja where he was treated for check up. Wada, who was full of smiles wore a white traditional outfit with a matching cap, came in a convoy of three cars at about 10 a.m. As he spoke to journalists, supported by crutches, he took time out to express appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan and Nigerians for their prayers.

His words: "I thank God almighty and all Nigerians, especially Mr. President and all the people who have been praying for me."

On the accident that involved the Speaker’s entourage, he said: "It is unfortunate and everybody is to take heart. Death is from almighty God, it’s from him we came and to God we’ll return."

Speaking after the 40 minutes appointment with Wada, Chief Medical Director of Cedarcrest Hospital, Dr. Felix Ogedengbe expressed the confidence that the governor would drop the crutches soon.

Dr. Felix Ogedengbe: "A lot of questions have been asked why we didn’t tie up his leg and all that, the modern way of checking thigh bone fracture is to operate them with a machine we call image identifier. We have the capability to do that, with minimal injury to the leg, because you know, the leg has been injured in an accident and surgery itself is a form of injury, an injury that is necessary to treat the patient. He is doing very well at the moment. He was discharged a couple of days ago from hospital and he is come for his first routine check now. From our assessment, he’s doing very well. He is gaining steadily on his post-operative course. We have not seen any problems at all. His therapy is going on well. He is walking around well with crutches. He is keeping fit and with all the things we’ve asked him to do, I think he’s doing very well at the moment."
