Plateau Government Orders Muslims To Stay Indoors

Muslims in Plateau State have been directed to stay at home and observe special prayers in solidarity with the Fulani in Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas of the state who were given 48 hours by the Specials Task Force to vacate their villages.

The STF had on Friday ordered the Fulani living in the affected areas to vacate their houses for a military operation following last week’s violence in Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas.

A statement yesterday night by the spokesman of the Ulama/ Elders Council in the state, Hon.Muhammad Sani Mudi, said Muslims in the state would remain in their respective houses and offer prayers for peace today.

The statement reads: “The leadership of the Muslims in Plateau State has directed all Muslim to stay at home tomorrow 16/07/2012, and observe a day prayers in solidarity with the Fulani community in Riyom and Barikin Ladi Local Government Areas, who have been served  a 48-hour quit notice by the STF.”
