Sultan Promises There Will Be No Controversy With Sighting Of The Moon

Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar says efforts are on to ensure that controversy surrounding the sighting of the moon for the Ramadan fast is resolved.

He said at a closing ceremony of Hadith Memorization programme and book launch in Sokoto yesterday that as part of measures to ensure uniformity in the commencement of the Ramadan fast, a meeting was held with the relevant stakeholders during which issues concerning moon sighting were discussed.

According to him, the Sultanate council would continue to ensure proper consultation with Islamic scholars before it takes any decision.

He also assured that the council would remain just and fair on issues that affect the Muslim community.
