Plateau Workers Await Three Months Salary

Workers in Plateau State are still awaiting their three months salaries promised by the state government as condition for calling off their over seven months strike.

Some of the local government workers said they borrowed money to shop for the Christmas while others said traders gave them goods on credit.

Prices of goods in the market have soared since the state government agreed to pay local government workers in the state the three months salary from October to December.

Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Mr Gunshin Yerlings said the workers are yet to be paid even though they have all returned to work.

Plateau State Commissioner of Information and Communication Pastor Abraham Yiljap said the state government was happy to have the workers back at work and the agreement will be honoured.
