The release of a deputy head master in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya has triggered protests by residents who condemn the police for laxity after he was connected with the defiling of a nine year old girl as she was walking home.
According to Saboti District Officer, Peter Kissinger, the teacher accosted the girl as she was walking home from the market at a field in Machewa village, Saboti division and lured her into a bush where he defiled her.
The girl who walked home in severe pain reported the ordeal to her parents who in turn reported the teacher to a local AP camp leading to his arrest on Saturday. The teacher however was released yesterday morning in unclear circumstances.
Apparently his freedom only cost him Sh. 10,000 and he promised to pay the girl’s parents Sh. 300,000 as compensation.
Kissinger said that three AP officers are being investigated on the same and anyone found guilty of releasing the teacher will be charged in a court of law. The teacher will be rearrested after a warrant of arrest is issued against him and the family of the girl files a case against him.
