Wife Burns Husband’s Shop After Marrying Another Wife

It was a big loss for a businessman after his shop was set ablaze on Saturday night by his wife following his decision to marry a second wife.

Nelly Chebet, a housewife and a mother of two burnt down her husband’s premises after he had married another wife.

According to the victim Titus Osia, Nelly attacked her co-wife prior to the incident causing her bodily injuries. Titus explained that on the fateful day, he had taken the injured wife to the hospital only to return and found his shop up in smoke.

With the nearest fire brigade engines being in Bungoma and Kitale, other traders and locals were forced to watch helplessly as the intense flames spread to the nearby shops and kiosks.

While confirming the incident, Mt Elgon OCPD James Kithuka said that investigations were underway and the accomplices will be brought to book.

The residents are now calling on the government to provide a fire fighting brigade so as to be useful when similar incidences occur.
