The Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association Secretary Adesoye Adejuwon said the boxers have started reaping the fruits of their labour with the timely invitation by the national amateur boxing regulatory body.
He expressed great optimism in the ability of the boxers to make huge impact at future international tournaments.
“It is a great delight to see most of the Lagos boxers being invited to compete at the national level. It shows that people in authority appreciate the talents and potential discovered in these young boxers,” Adejuwon said.
“We (Team Lagos) won eight gold medals in the boxing event, which automatically put us in pole position ahead of others states. We succeeded in achieving this feat with the support of the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame Monthly Saturday Boxing Show which helped the boxers to maintain high level of fitness ahead of the festival. I am so excited; I have no doubt in the ability of the boxers to deliver.”
The invited boxers include, Dauda Azeez in the light flyweight category, Ottoh Joseph of lightweight category, Gabriel Francis from the heavyweight category, Kate Peter from the women’s welterweight category, Mutiat Adebayo of women’s flyweight category and Oriyomi Aisat of bantamweight among others.
