House of Representatives say the abandoned rehabilitation of the Lambata–Bida-Mokwa-Jebba-Ilorin Federal Highway must be investigated.
The House of Representative in Abuja on Tuesday, called on the Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to investigate the circumstances that led to the abandonment of Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Jebba-Ilorin Road.
The lawmakers took the decision following a motion tagged “Abandoned Rehabilitation Project of Lambata–Bida-Mokwa-Jebba-Ilorin Federal Highway,” sponsored by Ibrahim Ebbo (PDP-Niger.)
The House of Representatives also called on the Federal Government to re-name the National Museum Centre, Benin City, after late Anthony Enahoro.
This resolution followed a motion by one of the representatives, Friday Itulah, which was unanimously adopted without debate when put to vote by the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha.
The motion is entitled, “Re-Naming the National Museum Centre, Benin City, Edo, after Chief Anthony Eromosele Enahoro’’.
Mr. Itulah said that Mr. Enahoro, who died on December 15, 2010, was “one of the foremost nationalists who fought for the independence of this great country”.
“Enahoro was a political icon whose legacies have become institution of learning and political thought in Nigeria and beyond,” Mr. Itulah said.
The lawmaker further described Mr. Enahoro as a political icon who brought his wealth of experience into the Nigerian political scene “to emancipate the Nigerian people from colonialism.
“The memory will ever be remembered in history if the house could accord respect to this former member of the House of Representatives.”
The motion was not opposed and the deputy speaker referred the motion to the House Committee on Governmental Affairs, for further legislative inputs.
