Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said his government would construct a Freedom Square in Minna, the state capital, where people who are dissatisfied with government policies can go and ventilate their views.
Governor Aliyu stated this over the weekend when he received an award of ‘Apostle of Peace and Bridge Builder’ from the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
According to him, whenever the square is built, people would be allowed to go the centre to express their opinion on the goings on in the state instead of attacking innocent citizens out of frustration.
“At the Freedom Square, people will be allowed to enter and ventilate their anger and frustration, and not on the people but the political class. No one should destroy anyone else in the name of religion whatever the cause of their frustration or anger,” he said.
“Even if it is me that you want to abuse, you are free; nobody will touch you.”
