Hungarian media report that Szegedi decided to become a self-hating Jew right after he found out that his maternal grandparents were Jews, which under Jewish law, makes him a Jew.

“I know it sounds like a cliché, but my parents really ruined my life,” said Mr. Szegedi Couple of members from the right-wing Hungarian political group said that they weren’t really surprised when Csanad announced that he has Jewish roots because “he has always been a schemer and a cheap bastard.”

Hungarian nationalist politician and elected Member of the European Parliament claims that the discovery will not prevent him from making incendiary comments about Jews, but adds that “now he will have to be more critical towards himself as well.”

“For example, do you think I would have gotten this far in politics and life if I wasn’t Jewish? You’ve got to be really naïve to believe that”, said Szegedi in a self-deprecating manner. “Also, together with all the other Hungarian Jews, I am in huge part responsible for the crisis in the country.”

The revelation of Szegedi’s Jewish roots has led to a political backlash as he is now being disowned by himself. Hungarian media reported that Szegedi has fired himself from the anti-Semite Jobbik Party of which he is the leader and most prominent member, but only to control it from the shadow.
