Caretaker committee chairman of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State Emmanuel Loman has accused security operatives of complicity in the shooting which claimed eight lives in the Heipang area of the council on Monday night.
The council chairman alleged that a Mopol officer attached to the Special Task Force was one of the five men who carried out the gun attack from which two injured persons died on Tuesday morning to bring the casualty figure to 10.
According to Loman, the officer was identified by survivors of the attack as being one of the attackers.
Loman said the supposed involvement of a member of the STF, whom he said was mistakenly shot by the other attackers, was another proof that the STF was a part of the security challenges in his council area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Emmanuel Abuh, would not confirm involvement of any of his men in the attack. He only said the attackers were men whose identities had not been ascertained.
