Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, wife of former Biafran warlord Chukwuemeka Ogumegwu Ojukwu, yesterday thanked all Nigerians for the honour they have continued to bestow on Ojukwu even one year after his demise.
Speaking at one year memorial service and reception in his honour in Awka, Mrs Ojukwu said Nigerians deserve their commendation for the love shown to the former Biafran warlord.
Asked how she felt about the absence of Owelle Rochas Okorocha at the event, she said he might have had other functions more important than the memory of his party leader.
In his remark, Ojukwu’s son, Emeka Ojukwu, equally thanked Nigerians who have continued to stand by them, especially Governor Obi who has continued unflinchingly to show love and support for Ojukwu family.
Also speaking at the occasion, Governor Obi said the “memory of Ojukwu, like those of the greatest in history, such as Napoleon Bonaparte, King Louis xiv, Gen. MacArthur, Alexander the Great, King Philip of Macedon and many others, would remain ever conscious in the memory of men because they lived for something worth remembering”.
