Nigeria Needs Revolution – Cleric

The Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastic Province, Anglican Communion, Rev. Adebayo Akinde, on Friday said growth and development could only be achieved in Nigeria with a political regeneration by the political class.

The cleric also tasked the Yoruba leaders to devise a strategy that would engineer positive re-awakening in order not to continue to be backward in the country.

Akinde stated this while delivering a sermon at the burial of the former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Chief Wumi Adegbonmire, at the St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Akure.

He said, “There is the need for the country to undergo series of reforms with Christians playing a vital role.

“We are in need of political regeneration in this country; Christians involved in governance should take their faith to the political arena.”

Akinde who spoke on “final destination,” described Adegbonmire “as a faithful member of the Anglican church and a foremost, committed and unrepentant Awoist.”
