‘Police helicopter not shot down’

The police headquarters yesterday denied media report suggesting that one of its helicopters was shot down by rioters in Kaduna.

A statement signed by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said, “the attention of the police high command has been drawn to rumours being circulated in the media that a police helicopter detailed for aerial patrol in Kaduna, was shot down by irate youths.

We wish to state categorically that this information is false in its entirety.” Mba said the police helicopter was in Kaduna to deploy police operatives from one spot to another, thereby facilitating quick response in all emergency situations. He said it was also out to carry aerial patrols and other related operations aimed at restoring peace in Kaduna.
