Nigeria has pulled out from hosting the 2012 Fifa Futsal World Cup final fixture qualifying match against Egypt on Saturday at the Indoor Hall, NIS Gymnasium, National stadium, Lagos.


The nation’s campaigners, Futsal Eagles lost the first fixture 8-2 in Cairo to their Egyptian counterparts.

The winner of the now aborted reverse final fixture would pick one of the three spots for Africa to the global fiesta holding in Thailand in November.

Nigeria got to the final round without kicking a ball due to the withdrawal of Gabon from the qualifying race while Egypt overwhelmed their North African neighbours, Tunisia 9-3 on aggregate. gathered from the NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire that Nigeria will not honour the reverse fixture against Egypt at the weekend in Lagos.

“Nigeria has pulled out from hosting the reversed final leg against Egypt on Saturday in Lagos,” Olajire said.

“Well, I think the first leg defeat must have been the major consideration,” he said.

However, an NFF executive member, Deji Tinubu claimed ignorance of the pull-out from the Fifa Futsal World Cup race.

“I’m not aware, I’m just hearing it now, I’ll confirm the genuineness of the information.

“But I must say it’s shocking if it turns out to be true and on account of the first leg defeat.
