Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has extended another olive branch to striking local government workers.
This time around, the governor has given them till November 19 to resume work.
But the Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress in the state, Mr. Jibrin Bancir, insisted that workers would not go back to work unless they were paid their six months arrears.
An earlier directive given to them to resume work on Monday was rebuffed as the workers insisted on implementation of the 55 per cent agreement in the new minimum wage and payment of the six months arrears of salaries.
But Jang, in a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Paul Wai, on Thursday, said government was giving the workers another chance to resume work.
