Lagos Inducts Newly-Recruited Civil Servants

Newly-recruited/deployed officers in the Lagos State public service are currently undergoing induction courses at the state Public Service Staff Development Centre.

The participants to take part in the first phase of the induction are drawn from 22 local government areas.

The inductees include some visually-impaired lawyers in the ministry of justice.

Addressing participants on Monday, Director General, PSSDC, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, said in the public service of the state, induction courses were a critical aspect of employee orientation.

Represented by Director, Management Development and Consultancy Services, Mrs. Bamidele Akinyemi, the PSSDC boss said induction course was one of the centre’s flagship programmes.

Fabamwo said, “The induction course is designed to introduce and integrate you, as new entrants and deployed officers, to the culture, ethics and norms of the Lagos State Public Service in which you have chosen a career.

“It will also equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude needed for effective and efficient delivery on your job schedules.”

Specifically, she said on successful completion of the five-day induction course, participants would be able to demonstrate an understanding of vision, strategies of the state government.

She added that they would be able to discuss rules guiding their conducts in the public service; apply sound public finance techniques and acquire and develop required skills needed to carry on in their chosen careers.

Fabamwo said the participants would be taken in courses on essentials of public administration; building a mega city that works; managing public finance; rules, regulations and other conditions of service; code of conducts and ethics as well as time management.
