Benue Deputy Governor’s 2015 Posters Flood Makurdi

Posters of Benue State deputy governor, Chief Steven Lawani stating his interest to contest the 2015 governorship election in the state have appeared in strategic locations in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

It was learnt that the posters with inscription "No vacancy in 2015" were pasted by unidentified persons Saturday night. Aides of the deputy governor were however seen combing the metropolis to remove the posters.

Spokesman of the deputy governor, Ejembi Ogwuche did not pick his calls to respond to the development at the time of sending this report.

However, chairman of the Conference of Political Parties (CNPP) in the state, Engr. Baba Agan, in his reaction noted that the pasting of the posters was a kite being flown in disguise by Lawani and his cronies to determine his popularity.

"Lawani is behind the posters. It is a clear indication of the plans he has cooked behind closed doors with the help of his supporters but he is only deceiving himself because he has nothing to offer to the people of Benue," Agan stated.

This new development is however on the heels of increasing agitation by the Idoma people of zone 'C' senatorial district of the state to occupy the governorship position in the state.
