A patrol team of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri Wednesday morning narrowly escaped being killed by a road side bomb which went off at the Costain area of the metropolis.
Daily Trust gathered that the bomb which was planted by the road side went off shortly after the patrol vehicle of the JTF men pass the road.
Our reporter gathered that the impact of the explosion also shattered the glasses of the vehicle.
The sound of the explosion which was followed by series of gunshots was heard in many places in Maiduguri around 8:20 a.m.
School children and residents going to work quickly fled back to the safety of their homes as a result of the explosion.
Spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col Sagir Musa who confirmed the explosion in a release said "At about 8:38 today, there was a failed IED attack on a JTF patrol vehicle along Costain area of Maiduguri metropolis. An IED remote control bomb targeted at JTF vehicle was planted and buried on the road by suspected Boko Haram terrorists."
According to him, no casualty was recorded as nobody was killed or wounded by the bomb.
