Bomb in Abuja: Rumours or Truths?

Bomb in Abuja: Rumours or Truths?

The Police in Abuja yesterday arrested two men with a gas cylinder in an unregistered vehicle, sparking rumours that a car bomb was intercepted.

Early in the evening, a website posted a story saying that the police seized a black VW Gold car wired with explosives in Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The website claimed that the vehicle had three occupants who tried to enter the Kuje Prisons and a block of government offices but was intercepted.

But FCT Police Commissioner Aderenle Shinaba told Daily Trust by telephone last night that there was no bomb.

He said what happened was that the police arrested two suspects in unregistered vehicle with a gas cylinder which turned out to be cooking gas.

He said the suspects were being detained over use of unregistered vehicle.
