A Harare court reported a prostitute fatally stabbed one of her client with a broken beer bottle after being caught with another man.

Rudo Tanga of 5968-39 Close in Budiriro 3 was not formally charged when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma who remanded her in custody to 16 November. Ms Tshuma ordered Tanga to apply for bail at the High Court due to the gravity of the offence.

On 27 October at around 11pm, Tanga allegedly became evasive towards Grivin. On the same day, Tanga was hired for sex by an unidentified man whom she had met at a nightclub at Tichagarika Shopping Centre in Glen View, it is alleged.

She reportedly took the unidentified man to her home where they had sex during the night. The following day at around 12 noon, Grivin followed Tanga to her house intending also to have sex with her, the court heard. It is further alleged that when Grivin arrived, Tanga refused to open the door for him and he vowed not to leave the premises.

Grivin forcibly opened the door using a screwdriver before the unidentified client fled, it is alleged. An altercation ensued between Tanga and Grivin followed by an exchange of harsh words, the court heard. Tanga reportedly reached for an empty beer bottle, broke it and struck Grivin once on the left side of his neck.

Grivin sustained deep cuts on the left side of his neck, left lower jaw and close to the collarbone, it is alleged. The court heard that Grivin collapsed and bled to death. A post-mortem revealed that Grivin died as a result of hemorrhage shock due to a stab wound.
