Philanthropist Donates Boreholes To Worship Places, Communities

Managing Director/CEO of SPIO Mechanical Engineering Company, Engineer Simon Peter Opara has donated 11 bore-holes to places of worship and communities within Kaduna State amounting to about N7 million in honour and memory of late governor, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa.

According to him, one of the bore-holes which is situated in Kakuri is ready for commissioning by Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.

“We have also sent a letter to His Excellency to select three in dire need of potable water, where the remaining three bore-holes in honour of Sir Yakowa will be constructed,” he added.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, Mr Opara said his philanthropic activity was borne out of his desire to touch the lives of the less privileged in the society, and also in a bid to compliment government’s transformation agenda.

“SPIO has since 2010, donated bore-holes to 11 communities in Kaduna State, with the last commissioned in honour of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi last December in Kateri Community.

“Other communities that have benefitted are Odawa, Ungwan Gimbiya, Bible Fellowship Mission, Station Round About Jumat Mosque and Maraban Rido,” he added.

He explained that two of the bore-holes with over head tanks cost about N1.5 million each, while two with hand pumps cost about N600,000 each, with seven others without head tanks and hand pumps costing N400,000 each to construct.
