Anglican Church Declares 7-day Fasting For Nigeria

Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, yesterday, called for seven days prayer and fasting with effect from November 12, in view of the present security situation in the country.

Okoh, who made the declaration at a press conference on the forthcoming Divine Common Wealth Conference, DIVCCON, in Abuja, maintained that people needed to pray for government programmes to bear fruits.

He said: “We know that human beings have their part to play, but no matter what we do, except the Lord build the house, the labourers are working in vain.

“This is why the prayer is very vital. We are not saying those who are given the responsibilities in government should not do it.”

The cleric noted that the church was more concerned about the devastation brought by the activity of the Islamist sects on churches.
