The Jigawa State government says it immunized 1.4 million children during the last immunization exercise against polio.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tafida Abubakar, while fielding questions with newsmen, said there is a presidential task force on polio eradication in the state with the state deputy governor as the chairman. He said the task force has representatives of development partners and the traditional leaders.
Dr. Abubakar said in Jigawa State, seven cases of wild polio virus were discovered recently with three cases in Babura and one each at Buji, Birnin Kudu, Kazaure,and Auyo.
The commissioner added that the state government has spent N52million on the exercise. Dr. Abubakar maintained that the state government is committed to the health sector, especially the polio issue.
