Railway Demolition: Beneficiaries Commend Aregbesola On N65m Palliative

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola has been commended for the N65million compensation he paid to 395 tenants on the railway land located at Old Garage, Osogbo, the state capital.

The 395 beneficiaries, who are not legally entitled to compensation for the demolition of their shops at the railway terminus known as Ojurin, expressed gratitude to the governor for what they described as his humanitarian gesture.

Commending Aregbesola on the N65million palliative on Sunday in Osogbo, the Executive Secretary, Justice Now Foundation, Comrade Waheed Lawal said, “The governor has once again showed that he is human, a responsive and democratic governor. Aregbesola’s kindness is immeasurable, unquantifiable.

“A lot of people did not believe that the governor would give them any palliative for the demolition, but the governor has proven that he is benevolent.

“I must also commend the Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arc. Olumuyiwa Ige, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperative, and Empowerment, Ismaila Alagbada, for their role in ensuring transparency and fair play in the disbursement of the cheques.

“Also the Special Advisers to the Governor on Land Matters and that of Commerce, Cooperative, and Empowerment, Dr. Ayodele Owoade and Dr Dauda Yunusa and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Arc Wale Ojo played a vital role in the payment of the palliative.

“The officials did not allow themselves to be caged by anybody and they demanded for nothing in return for their services.”

One of the claimants, Mr Lukman Adeagbo, a cement dealer, commended Aregbesola for his humanitarian gesture, saying that the governor has again upheld his dignity and preserves the peoples hope and confidence reposed on him.
