IT was celebration time on Saturday as Femi Kuti, first son of legendary musician, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, celebrated his 50th birthday.
Femi Kuti and his ex-wife Funke Kuti were reunited on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the musician’s 50th birthday celebration held at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos. Funke was deeply involved in the well-put-together party, working with others to make sure everything went according to plans.
All routes linking to the Shrine was filled with guests dorning blue dresses, the uniform for the birthday ceremony. Private security officials prevented uninvited guests from entering the venue of the party and for the first time, the usual smoking and drinking that regularly goes on at the Shrine was not allowed.
The event was attended by Femi Kuti’s close family, friends, and quite a number of people from the Nigerian entertainment industry including Kenny Ogungbe, Tuface Idibia, Tee-Mac, Laolu Akins, Orits Wiliki, Fatai Rolling Dollar, Jeffery Daniels, Sadi Daba, Weird MC and many others.
