Armed men heavily prepped with about 20 explosive devices and assault riffles attacked the Potiskum cattle market in Yobe State.
In a statement made to AFP, the police spokesperson, Mr Toyin Gbadegesin said that the gunmen threw explosives and shot randomly. He further stated that people were forced to stay in the market as they set the place ablaze and made sure nobody left the market premises.
Different speculations as to why the gunmen to attack the market continue to emerge. Some claim that the gunmen didn’t seem connected to the sect, Boko Haram and must have been on a vengeance mission regarding the killing of a man who tried to steal a cattle by the traders.
Further investigation continues.
