MANY who had thought that businesswoman, Hajia Bola Shagaya, would tune up the music and blast to no end in celebration of her birthday, some days ago, were in for a surprise as there was no sign of partying, either in her Abuja or Lagos homes.
Known for her usual practice of inviting people for prayer and merriment on her birthday, friends and family members of the rich woman, whose investments lie in real estate, banking, photography and communications, are still trying to unearth why she decided to stall the celebration this year.
Bola Shagaya, who ranks high on the rich-list, both in Nigeria and Africa, has a Midas touch that turns her investments into gold, and she had in the past thrown some high octane parties that always make people strive to be on the guests’ list.
People close to the businesswoman revealed that her decision not to stage any celebration for her birthday this year was as a result of some reasons.
One of the reasons given was that her close friend, the First Lady of Nigeria, Dr Patience Jonathan, was recovering from an ailment in an overseas hospital.
The woman, who has been close to the corridors of power ever since the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, is waxing stronger by the day and her concern for her ailing friend paid off when news filtered in some days after her birthday that the President’s wife had been discharged and was back in the country.
