Be Wary and Vigilant of scavengers, LG Chairman Warns Lagos Residents

To forestall a possible bomb attack in Lagos State, Ojodu Local Council Development Area has called on the people to be extra-vigilant and monitor strange movements in the area.

The council Chairman, Mr. Olumuyiwa Oloro, who made the call at an emergency interactive session with traditional rulers and religious leaders, urged the residents to be wary of scavengers, cart pushers and unknown faces.

Also, the community leaders called on the security agencies to embark on a thorough search of vehicles coming into the border towns.

They said the proximity of the council to neighbouring states made their communities prone to violent attacks.

The leaders, therefore, called on the Lagos State Government to beef up security in border communities in the state to prevent the deadly Boko Haram sect from entering the state.

However, Oloro said the meeting was called to allay the fear among the residents over the growing spate of suicide bombings in the country.

The chairman added that it was also to check possible reprisal attack by Christians and Muslims in the council, adding that security had been strengthened in suspected flash points in the council.

He said: “We don’t want the problem to come here in any form, because there are churches and mosques in our council. The religious leaders in this community must continue to live harmoniously and see the Boko Haram sect as a common enemy.

“Educate your wards; tell them not to join any evil sect. We don’t want violence, chaos in Ojodu despite the fact that we are close to the border of the state.

“When you see abandoned vehicles, uncompleted buildings occupied by strange people, alert us to enable security officers comb the place.”
