Ondo Poll: Akeredolu Promises Regional Varsity

Action Congress of Nigeria’s candidate for the Ondo State governorship election on Saturday, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has promised to establish a regional university in the South-West if elected.

Akeredolu said during the party’s last campaign rally in Akure on Monday the university to be named the Great Western University might have faculties in all the South-West states.

He said, “This party is particular about South-West integration. This is why this election is important. Ondo cannot be apart from other states in the region if it is to develop.

“If all the states are together under one party, we can team up to establish the Great Western University. This state will be more developed than it is now if it joins other sister states under the ACN.”

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association called for a peaceful poll.

Akeredolu said, “I have no doubt in my mind that we are going to win Saturday’s election. Our state is a very rich state. Even Edo State, which is also an oil producing state, does not get as much revenue from oil as Ondo.

“We have had a deceitful government in the last four years but our government will do things in the right way if we win this election.

“We have spoken much about the southern part of the state. Ilaje, which borders the Atlantic, will become the tourist centre of this state under ACN government.”
