Yuletide: Osun Police Vow To Curb Crime

The Osun Police Command on Thursday in Osogbo vowed to curb all forms of crime to ensure a hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

DSP Folasade Odoro, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The statement quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Mrs Kalafite Adeyemi, as assuring residents of the state that adequate security arrangement had been put in place to forestall all forms of criminality.

“The celebrations, which will attract inflow of personalities from far and near, are expected to be without any breach of law and order, hence the police will guarantee the security of lives and property.

“Residents and law abiding citizens are encouraged to give prompt report of any suspicion to the nearest police station,” she said.

The command also warned against the use of fireworks, noting that miscreants might want to use this to perpetrate criminal acts.

“Parents, guardians, religious leaders and ward heads are to caution their children and relatives against this trend as the police will deal with anyone who undermines this warning,” it said.

It urged anyone with useful information on the sale or use of fireworks to report to the nearest police station for necessary action.
